3 VIETNAMESE BREAKFASTS RANKED AMONG WORLD’S TOP 100

Besides “Pho” and “Banh Mi”, Vietnam has 3 other dishes ranked among the world’s top 100 breakfasts that you should try at least once. From humble street stalls to global recognition. Vietnam’s morning flavors shine worldwide.

“Bo kho”, “Bun bo Hue”, and “Com tam” dishes have been named among the world’s 100 best breakfasts for 2025, according to international food guide TasteAtlas.

Vietnamese beef stew (“bo kho“) ranked 28th. The dish is served with a baguette or noodles, and includes beef, carrots, and lemongrass, simmered in a spiced broth. It is often garnished with scallions, coriander, and herbs.

Spicy beef noodle soup (“Bun bo Hue”) came in 53rd. The dish features pork and beef bone broth, lemongrass, shrimp paste, and chili. Originating from the central city of Hue, it is known for its spicy flavor and variety of toppings such as brisket and crab balls.

Broken rice with grilled pork (“Com tam“) was ranked 75th. A popular southern breakfast dish, it includes grilled pork served over rice, usually accompanied by pickles, scallion oil, and fish sauce.

For the “Top 100 Breakfasts in the World” list released on April 15, 2025, TasteAtlas recorded 40,849 user ratings, of which 23,691 were recognized by the system as valid.

Topping the list was kahvaltı from Turkey, a traditional breakfast spread featuring cheeses, olives, pastries, vegetables, eggs, and tea. It was followed by Serbia’s komplet lepinja, a flatbread filled with thick cream, topped with egg, and soaked in savory meat drippings. Libya’s sfinz, a deep-fried pastry served with honey or a fried egg, placed third.
